My name is Rose Mary. I was born in S.C., and lived there until I was almost 30. I was raised very close to a gaggle of aunts, uncles and cousins. My mother and all of my aunts are great Southern cooks. I like to think I’m not so bad myself.
I have been an Occupational Therapist since 1987, almost all of my career in the Air Force. I spent about half of my career doing Pediatric Occupational Therapy, including school-based therapy overseas. The last 6 years of my Air Force career, I specialized in hand and upper extremity care. The overwhelming majority of my case load worked at a desk all day, as did I. What I know about the aches and pains, and numbness and tingling associated with driving a desk all day is A LOT! I loved educating clients. I can’t wait to share what I learned from my clients, as well as lessons learned from my own pain. Seems I have a true knack for this stuff, with simple, logical solutions.
I retired from the Air Force Feb 2009 after 20 years of service. I was stationed overseas, in Turkey for 3 ½ years and Germany for 3 years. I took pretty good advantage of the travel opportunities. I settled in San Antonio Texas. I love San Antonio, Texas Hill Country, and Texas coast travel. Of course the food is always one of my favorite parts of travel. In this country or any other!
I now teach Kinesiology to Occupational Therapy Assistant students. I also work for a pediatric home health company. I treated kids for about a year before transitioning to supervision of therapy assistants, and Occupational Therapy staff development. I am working with a team to develop a mentoring program for new employees, and will be refining OT computer documentation tools. I have developed and delivered continuing education courses for my state organization, which I love doing.
I have a YouTube Channel, RMCrayne, where I have posted videos mostly related to Occupational Therapy topics.
I also have a couple blogs at BlogSpot, Almost Vegetarian and Yum, Let's Eat!
