Hi Liz—interesting observation. This was a hard list because so many of these names, too, have European roots (especially English and Irish). I like the variety being that the United States is quite the blend of cultures and people! The name popularity also varies state by state. We have a lot of West Coast names that are trending towards the obscure: Axle, Echo, etc.

I think there are a lot of cross overs with names also being used in the UK. So much tv now comes from America that the influence is very strong.
