While adoption is such a necessary option for the biological parents who need to use it, it is rarely an easy choice to make. Even those who are confident in their decision to place their child for adoption can struggle with the emotional difficulty that comes with it — and so can the child, no matter how awesome their adoptive family is. It can certainly be challenging all around.

But thanks to the technology we now have at our fingertips, it's easier than ever for birth parents and children to reunite if they choose to. That's what made this video going viral on TikTok possible, sharing a biological mom celebrating her son's birthday with him for the first time in 68 years.

The footage — backed to Christina Perri's version of "You Are My Sunshine" — was shared by one of the biological mom's grandchildren, who called this moment a "miracle." We can see her delivering a birthday cake to her son, who is turning 68, and watching him blow out the candles for the very first time.

"She gave him up for adoption when she was right out of high school. She had no money to support a baby," the video explains. "Now, 68 years later... she got to celebrate her first birthday with him."

Seeing the look they exchanged during this moment tells us all we need to know. There's a lot of love between these two, even if she wasn't ready to be a mom when he was born.

People were truly touched by this video, including fellow adoptive families who truly know what a moment like this can mean.

"My heart. As an adoptive mama, I pray my son’s birth mom can get her life together one day to be part of his life," one woman wrote.

This kind of reunion is truly so special. They're going to remember this moment always.
