As rewarding and beautiful as motherhood is, like anything worth doing, it definitely has its challenges. We get to receive and give love we never could have imagined, but at the same time, parenting can be so draining, and by the end of the day, we can feel totally touched out and exhausted — especially during certain phases of our children's lives that might be a bit more demanding than others.

There's one mom out there who managed to hit the nail on the head when it comes to this particular subject. Emily Vondy created a song that explains what many moms are feeling when people tell them to enjoy every moment of parenting, despite the fact that the current moment they're living in is a huge challenge.

"Because when they're little, it doesn't last long/You'll look back at this time and feel sad that it's gone," Emily sings. "Maybe that's true, but this season is hard/Can we acknowledge that too?"

She goes on to sing about how many moments in motherhood can be wonderful and difficult at the same time, and it's okay to talk about it.

"You're a good mom. Not liking this season doesn't make that less true," she sings at the end of her song.

Well said — and judging by the thousands of comments from moms who have felt the same way, it looks like she's not alone in this at all.

Motherhood can be the hardest thing you've ever done and the best thing you've ever done, and maybe it's time to start being open about it.
