I have a super irregular period. However, for the past three mornings, I've been experiencing bleeding that is brown. It's light, like spotting. I have cramps on and off as well. Other symptoms I'm experiencing are mood swings, stuffy nose, scratchy throat, sleepiness, and shortness of breath when walking up the stairs. I usually get my period on the 20th of every month, but now I'm six days late. Is this a sign that I'm pregnant?

Answer

That the blood is brown indicates it's old blood, so it could be the start of your period, but if you're not experiencing a flow, then it does make you (and I) wonder if it's a symptom of implantation.

If I were you, I would take an at home pregnancy test, if you haven't already.

The symptoms you're describing can be indicative of typical PMS, but they're also super common for early pregnancy.

If you test comes back negative and you still don't experience a flow of blood over the next couple of days, I'd make an appointment with your doctor, preferably you OB if you have one, and let them know what's going on.
