My son is 20. He graduated high school and he got a job doing IT work. He has severe social anxiety and quit his job because it stressed him. He was given a choice of work or school. He chose school. He just told me he wants neither. I told him he needs to move out. He won’t and I am not sure I could throw him out. His girlfriend lives here – pays rent and says he is depressed, but he refuses to get counseling. What now?
What is your end goal? As a parent, my goal would be to get my child to a place of self-sufficiency. We all go through tough times. Anxiety isn't unusual nor is it usually permanent. I would actually start with a visit to the doctor to check his hormone levels, basic check-up. He could have an underlying medical issue creating this problem.
